Spanish Guitar Lessons
How can I solve this guitar problem ?
This would only apply to only those that play classical or spanish guitar.
In the lesson im learning I have to pick the A string then the D string, but every time i pick D string I end up picking both A and D,.(and of course when I go slow I dont make this mistake)
but I was wondering whats the position that my hand and fingers (mostly my thumb) have to be. Oh and an other thing i have to pick A and D with thumb.
I suggest you practice using the Rest stroke when playing the open bass A and D in sequence. Lightly rest your index, middle, and ring fingers (IMA) on the treble strings (first three strings) to steady your right hand and pluck the Bass A string letting your Thumb (P) come to rest against the open D string, then pluck the D.
After some repetitions, try to use the Thumb in a Free stroke and see if it now clears the open D. It is just a matter of practice, of course, but patience is required.
Years ago, Rest Stroke exercises were quite common and disciplined the RH technique. It has been somewhat neglected in recent years.
