How to play a fretless bas guitar?
I’m not planning on learning this, I can play a little bass but I think it would be a waste learning how to do it without frets. I’m simply curious, how do people know what note they’re hitting if they can’t see the divisions? What’s the point of playing without frets anyway? I didn’t even know that fretless basses existed until I read about a jazz-fusion bass player on wikipedia who didn’t use frets.
fretless guitars produce a different sound as opposed to normal bass guitars, because the fingertip is relatively soft (compared to a fret) and absorbs energy from the vibrating string much faster.
It is really for the much more experienced bass players. you need to know exactly where the notes would be as if it was fretted
