Since there is a global financial crisis, do you think Gibson Guitars will be cheaper?
I plan on buying a Gibson Les Paul soon and considering the global money problems, do you think they will sell them cheaper?

Hey Gorilla, To be honest, Gibson and Fender’s are charging customers for their legacy status more than the worth of the build quality and materials. There is only so much that can be the highest quality in terms of wood and electronics. Both Gibson and Fender have some of the biggest musicians endorsing their product line and they will never shed their prices. However, for the affordable lot, they released the epiphone series that is a knocked down version of the Gibson Les Pauls (cheaper wood,stock pickups and I suppose crafted in Korea / China) where they cost less to manufacture. Now I know a Gibson is not an Epiphone no matter what. My advise to you is to walk into a local pawn shop and look around for cash strapped techies and recession victims having sold their gear for dirt cheap prices and you may get a good deal. However the studio line of Les Pauls were created to cater to the recording musician by offering the same Les Paul Quality at a no frills price. (No scratch plate, no gold hardware and no arch top). If that works for you, then the studio Les Pauls are much cheaper and a better bet. You second option is to get a local luthier make a Les Paul for you with your own specifications and it will still be cheaper than $3000 list price of most popular gibson models.
